Interview: Sasikumar (‘Nandhan’) | Baradwaj Rangan

I loved Subramaniapuram. This was literally the area I grew up in during my schooling days in Madurai. To watch a movie which captured the milieu so perfectly was a treat to watch. But it’s totally surprising to see in retrospect that Eesan didn’t do well. Though it wasn’t as good as Subramaniapuram, I felt that it was a worthy follow-up to the betrayal theme which is such a common theme in films that Sasikumar features.

“Meyyana Inbam” and “Jilla Vittu” (my favourite) were such raging hits even before the movie hit the theatres. But alas, the impact he created with his first film was always going to be a challenge when he made his second. I really wish he comes out of this vicious cycle he’s in and completes his betrayal themed trilogy.
