Vijay movie soundtracks in the last decade were more misses than hits save for the odd Jilla and Master.

Kaththi was decent but it is an album that I won’t often revisit unlike the other early soundtracks of Anirudh.
Puli was uneven , Theri was Therible , SaNa’s leisurely paced songs didn’t sync well with Vijay that resulted in a weird soundtrack in Bairavaa.

Mersal , Sarkar and Bigil had Rahman trying halfassedly to cater to the Anils.

Beast had Anirudh in autopilot mode and the English tracks of Leo worked more as background scores than standalone songs.

And the less said about Varisu , the better.

Also , the quality deterioration in the dance department made matters worse with only Vaathi Coming reminding us of how a great dancer Vijay is.

So , it was no surprise that the GOAT soundtrack ended up as another mediocre Vijay movie album.
